The organizations and collectives that make up Injusta Justicia believe it is necessary to broaden up the debate on violations of sexual and reproductive rights. We consider it is essential to generate spaces to analyze, debate and define a comprehensive strategy that does not only rely on criminalization as a response to combat violations of sexual and reproductive rights. That is why the campaign Injusta Justicia seeks to raise reflection on the limits of criminal law, punitivism and protectionism as strategies for the defense of sexual and reproductive rights, mainly of adolescents. Injusta Justicia seeks to focus attention on the unintended consequences of the unrestricted application of criminal law and the punitive strategy to protect sexual and reproductive rights; allowing us to analyze the impacts that these have on the life and autonomy of adolescents.
In Injusta Justicia we do not have -nor pretend to have- the answers, we seek to initiate the debate we need in order to propose transformative strategies. We also ask ourselves, is it possible to rethink other ways of seeking justice, accompaniment and reparation to survivors? Injusta Justicia invites us to have these dialogues, to think of alternatives to the punitive and penal system and to build other ways of achieving justice.
Injusta Justicia coordinates RESURJ, Vecinas Feministas and Balance; and promotes together with Aireana, BECA, Casa Rara, Intersecta, Las Ramonas, REDI, Surkuna and Tik Na’Oj, feminist organizations and collectives around the region.
