Shi Alarcón Zamora

Feminist, sociologist, professor and university researcher at the Technological Institute of Costa Rica. As a professor, she is in charge of humanist courses approached with an intersectional feminist and human rights view. She seeks to convey the importance of social, sexual and environmental justice in the work of future professionals.

She is an activist for the defense of human rights, especially those related to women and the LGBTIQ+ population. She has experience in organizational strengthening and political advocacy in joint work with indigenous leaders of the Bribri and Cabécar de Talamanca territories in Costa Rica.

Director of the Casa Rara Foundation – a safe space to embrace the differences in people under 25 LGTBIQ+ who have nowhere to live and be. Casa Rara focuses on adolescents and children, along with their families, to achieve a more just and equal society for them.
