
Oriana López Uribe
Feminist, pansexual and rights activist. Executive Director of Balance Promotion for Development and Youth AC and spokesperson for the Abortion Fund for Social Justice MARIA. She is a member of the global feminist alliance RESURJ. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Mama Cash and is a representative of the Bisexual Steering Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean of ILGA.
She has extensive experience in sexual rights activism with a social justice perspective. Her work focuses on promoting adolescent and youth rights, giving access to abortion, addressing the specific needs of LBQ women* and improving the HIV response for women and youth. She works for a broader gender equality agenda and a more effective response to stop gender-based violence and violence against women and girls. She carries out her activism through advocacy to generate more effective responses, strategic communication to promote cultural change, and direct work to strengthen feminist leadership providing tools directly to women, adolescents and youth. Since 2010 she has specialized in training doulas/abortion escort and scince 2012 she works in reducing abortion-related stigma at an individual and community level. She understands sexuality as a source of well-being that should not be limited to labels and boxes.
Oriana studied Social Communication at UAM-Xochimilco. In 2011 she received the Omeccihuatl medal from Inmujeres D.F. for her commitment to health and women’s rights and for her work as coordinator of the MARIA Fund. That same year the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) awarded her work in sexual health of the young.
